Kanye and Bonnaroo
Today I saw an article about Kanye West getting booed at the Bonnaroo festival this weekend. For those who don’t know it is a four day festival out in Tennessee. There were great acts this year including Jack Johnson, Metallica, Pearl Jam, B.B. King (just to name a few on the main stage). Originally he was supposed to go on Saturday afternoon. He decided that he wanted to go on later on in the evening to present his “Glow-In-The-Dark” tour. I have to give the people who put this event on a lot of credit because they were accommodating as well as fantastic spin doctors. I found an article on the website that completely hyped the time change up that even got me excited about it. But alas even marketing geniuses couldn’t PR their way out of the cluster fuck that was about to happen. So Kanye was supposed to go on at 2:45 am Saturday on the main stage after Pearl Jam (also performing at that time was Phil Lesh and Friends, Ghostland Observatory, Talib Kweli, and Sigur Ros, and Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk). However, it wasn’t until 4:30 that he decided to grace the stage and was off a little after 5am. Not to say that Kanye’s arrogance was the sole reason for his late performance (because sources say that Pearl Jam ended a little late, and there was a lot of time taken to build the set), but arrogance is probably why there was no apology to his fans that had waited all of that time for him to perform. So I now wonder, how many fans did he lose this weekend and how many more will he lose as this story circulates (and it is circulating)?
Thoughts…
