Downtown Chicago Finally Gets Inked!
For the past 7 months the shop at 166 W. Division has been shrouded in mystery, the windows covered in brown paper, people coming in and out 24 hours a day, while the people passing by stop and wonder what is going on in there. Well at long last Windy City Ink Tattoo is open for business. “ And it couldn’t have come at a better time.” Says owner Gary Parisi.
With the doors finally open Windy City Ink has been met with great response from the community, only a few blocks away from Chicago’s famous Rush street, and heavy foot traffic from daily commuters the general consensus seems to be, “… I couldn’t wait for you guys to finally open!” And for Windy City Ink that is just the response they wanted. The sometimes negative stigma of a tattoo shop can make it difficult to get things going, but Gary Parisis’ goal is to break that by making his parlor more of an upscale salon or boutique than the tattoo shops of old. Making sure his employees are equipped with best resources on the market, and modern technology replacing some of the traditional aspects of a tattoo shop. Windy City Ink has big plans to change the tattoo scene in Chicago.
Shop Owner Gary Parisi is excited as can be too. His goal of opening a tattoo shop that was a cut above the rest by catering to the high class and pop icons of sports and film, by trying to create an environment that met elite standards of the industry. All of the tattoo artists and piercing specialists were hand picked by Gary himself, who has over 12 years in the business, some of who moved to Chicago from across the country just to share in his dream. “ I wanted to make the kind of tattoo shop I always dreamed of working at, where the cut throat attitudes didn’t exist and we were a family… I didn’t want to crank out tattoos like a factory, I wanted it to be a passionate work of art on each and every customer, that is why I opened this place.
