Its about Pride, Its about the working class, no Its about Beer
Like a lot of you I have been following the story about the potential buyout of Anheuser-Busch. Over the last two weeks I have talked with people regarding this and it seems that this buyout is about more than beer. Since Anheuser-Busch is the last American beer company, it seems important to keep it as a staple of American tradition (Miller is owned by London Based South African Breweries SABMiller since 2002, and Coors is owned by Molson Coors Brewing Company a Canadian and American based company). I am glad to see that we are not going quietly into the night. Anheuser-Busch rejected Belgin beer company InBev’s initial offer of $46.3 billion saying that it was financially inadequate. Instead what Anheuser-Busch plans to do is cut the cost of operation by 1 billion dollars by 2010. This would mean a loss of jobs due to layoffs or job buyouts. So what is good for the American people? Is it being bought by a foreign company who can grow the company? Or keep an American brand American and see how many jobs are lost for the sake of cost cutting and the devaluation of the dollar?
